WOODBRIDGE, Conn. (AP) - A police dog from Milford is being credited with helping to catch a suspect in a Woodbridge bank robbery.
Police say the dog, Mack, and Milford Police Officer Steve Napoletano tracked the suspect near a golf course in Orange after the robbery at a TD Bank branch on Friday morning.
Police say 23-year-old Raymond Melvin of Hamden was taken into custody as he hid in the trash can.
The search led authorities to place the nearby Race Brook School into lockdown and shelter-in-place orders also were issued for Amity Junior High School and Hebrew Day School.
It was not immediately clear how much money was taken in the robbery or if it had been recovered.
Melvin remained in custody Friday, and was expected to face numerous charges.
