TROY, Mich. (AP) - Two high school soccer teams will return to the field for a playoff game after officials misapplied a rule and gave a victory to Troy Athens.

Athens and Macomb Dakota will meet again Tuesday. The Michigan High School Athletic Association says the game will be resumed as a shootout tied at 3-3.

A goal by Dakota was scratched Friday when officials said the player had taken a shot out of order for his team. But the MHSAA says soccer tournament rules don’t require a particular order.

The stakes are high: The winner of the game will advance to the Division 1 semifinals.
