70-year-old man fatally struck by car in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) - Police say a 70-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car in Woodbridge.

Prince William County police say John Shannon of Ridgeway, South Carolina, was struck around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Police said in a news release that Shannon was trying to cross Old Bridge Road when he was hit by a car. Police say he was not at an intersection and was not using a crosswalk. He was flown to a hospital, where he died on Sunday.

Police say the driver remained on the scene and wasn’t hurt. Police don’t believe the 42-year-old Woodbridge woman was speeding or using alcohol or drugs.

No charges have been filed. The collision remains under investigation.
