ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Friends and family members have gathered to remember the life a man who was fatally shot at a Virginia rail car factory.
Police say Getachew Fekede opened fire at the FreightCar America facility in Roanoke early Tuesday before killing himself. Daniel Brown, of Montvale, was killed, and three others were injured.
WSLS-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2eZ5lVJ ) that a memorial service was held for Brown Saturday at Oakeys East Chapel.
Vickie Hawkins, Brown’s girlfriend, says he was a “loving man” with a good heart.
Police are still investigating a motive for Tuesday’s shooting.
Getachew legally entered the U.S. from Kenya in 2011 through a refugee immigration program. A neighbor told the Associated Press that Fekede quit his job at the facility months before the shooting because he was being harassed by a co-worker.
