WADESBORO, N.C. (AP) - The State Bureau of Investigation is being asked to look into the death of person who was trying to elude a probation and parole officer in Anson County.

A statement from the SBI said Officer William Kyle Torrence was trying to locate and arrest a person Thursday night for a probation violation connected to an assault charge.

The N.C. Department of Public Safety said Torrence chased the person on foot before they died. An initial investigation shows no shots were fired in the incident.



The identity of the suspect being chased is being withheld pending notification of family.

Torrence has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of an investigation of the incident.
