DRAPER, Utah (AP) - A Riverton man has been arrested for driving off with heavy-duty circular saw that had fallen off a Unified firetruck in Draper.

Draper police say 47-year-old Kent Dean was arrested on suspicion of theft or lost, mislaid or mistakenly delivered property, a third-degree felony on Wednesday.

Dean says he picked up the saw because it was a traffic hazard lying in the street. He says he intended to return the saw at his earliest convenience. He stopped by a fire station later that night to return the saw, which is valued at more than $2,000, and was arrested.

Draper Police say they’re moving forward with felony theft charges against Dean, because of the high price of the saw.
