Police were called to a Utah middle school on Tuesday afternoon after reports of a shooting there.

According to Salt Lake City TV station KSTU, the police had headed out to Union Middle School in Sandy.

Sgt. Dean Carriger, a Sandy Police Department spokesman, said the shooting occurred outside Union Middle and involved two juveniles.



A 12-year-old boy was wounded and taken to the hospital, while the suspect is in custody, he said. The school was put on lockdown as a precaution.
