IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) - Several Idaho Falls residents say their homes were flooded with human waste after a problem with the city’s sewage system.

KIFI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2dtmicW ) that the city says a backup pump stopped on Thursday morning, causing the sewage to fill at least nine houses in the southwest part of town. Flood & Fire Solutions Brando Morgan says many homes had more than 2.5 inches of sewage in the basements.

Idaho Falls spokeswoman Kerry Hammon says a member of Public Works is currently checking the pump every two hours. Hammon says it’s not clear when the pump will be fully operational.
