LOS ANGELES (AP) - Weakening Santa Ana winds have allowed most of Southern California’s red flag warnings to expire.

But forecasters say critical fire weather conditions remain Friday in the mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties due to gusts, very warm temperatures and very low humidity levels.

Brush fires that have erupted during this week’s winds have been held in check by aggressive air and ground attacks.

Gradual cooling is expected and there’s a possibility of showers next week.
