COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Police say a bank robbery suspect was shot and critically wounded by police after he raised a gun at officers following a short vehicle pursuit.

A Columbus police statement says officers responded to a report of an armed robbery about 10 a.m. Friday at a Key Bank.

Police say the suspect fled in an SUV and officers stopped him a short time later at a business park. Police say witnesses report the suspect got out of his vehicle and raised a gun toward officers. Police say the two officers then fired multiple shots.

The man was hospitalized in critical condition. Police say they recovered the suspect’s weapon at the shooting scene.

Police didn’t say how much money was stolen from the bank. No other injuries were reported.
