TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Police say an Arizona woman was shot in the arm by her 2-year-old child as she tried to take a handgun away from him.

The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Deputy Cody Gress says the gun was left on a counter where the child could reach it. The incident occurred Monday morning in Star Valley, a town southwest of Tucson.

Deputies are still investigating and no charges have been filed.
