MONTICELLO, Ark. (AP) - Monticello’s mayor has pleaded not guilty to fraudulently funneling funds from the city and soliciting unrepaid loans.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/2dYf5zF ) reports that Mayor Zack Tucker is charged with public-record tampering and abuse of office.

Authorities say Tucker moved funds to cover Arkansas Forest Festival debts. Tucker is the chairman of the festival’s committee. Arkansas State Police say Tucker moved the funds after the authorization of a check filled out by Tucker was disputed by the person whose signature was on it. Authorities say the dispute led to an unauthorized disbursement from a city account by Tucker.

Tucker is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 21 for a pretrial hearing.
