COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) - A woman has pleaded guilty in connection with a multistate drug trafficking operation involving a Coeur d’Alene gastroenterologist.
The Coeur d’Alene Press reports (https://bit.ly/2ewxOoO ) that 34-year-old Sherlann Simon of North Las Vegas, Nevada pleaded guilty to conspiracy to launder money last week.
Simon has admitted she laundered nearly $483,000 as part of a drug trafficking operation prosecutors say was headed by her mother, Loren Toelle.
Toelle is the wife of Stanley Toelle, a gastroenterologist who worked at Kootenai Health.
The Toelles and Simon are among 11 people charged in the case.
Prosecutors say the group transported drugs from Nevada and California to Idaho, Washington, Montana and North Dakota from 2009 until early this year. Their operations generated at least $1.3 million in drug profits.
