TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - Tupelo officials say unforeseen problems continue to delay the move by the police department into a new building.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2egakVC) the city is waiting on the elevator installation to be completed before they can schedule a final state inspection and fire marshal inspection.

Police Chief Bart Aguirre said around the end of August AT&T contacted city officials about setting up the phone system. Aguirre says they didn’t have enough phone lines pulled into the building.

He said the elevator installers had to stop what they were doing because the elevator has to have a working emergency phone in it.

The city broke ground on the two-story, $10 million building in April 2015.
