ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Three juveniles are back in custody after escaping from a Montgomery County detention center over the weekend.

Montgomery County police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks says the teenagers escaped from the Alfred D. Noyes Children’s Center in Rockville just after 7 p.m. Sunday.

Starks says two of the teens were found less than two hours later in a field near Muddy Branch Road. The third teen was located at his residence in Gaithersburg around 9 p.m.

He says two of the escaped teens were 15-year-old boys and a third was a 17-year-old boy. It’s not clear how the teens were able to escape.

Starks says police dogs and helicopters had been deployed to look for the escapees.

Maryland Juvenile Services said the center has been secured.
