COLONIE, N.Y. (AP) - A long-lost World War II bracelet belonging to a veteran from New York has been returned to his family after being found along the Hudson River.
Michael Maggiulli (muh-JOO’-lee), the attorney for the upstate town of Colonie (kahl-uh-NEE’), tells the Times Union (https://bit.ly/2eaHsZu ) he recently found the sterling silver identification bracelet while using a metal detector on the river’s west bank near his suburban Albany home.
Such bracelets typically were given to WWII servicemen by their loved-ones.
The bracelet Maggiulli found bears the name and an eight-digit military service number that match that of Charles “Eddie” Beaudoin (boh-DOYN’, of nearby Troy. Beaudoin, who died in 2001, served with the Army’s 27th Infantry Division at Saipan, where he survived a severe head wound.
The newspaper helped Maggiulli track down Beaudoin’s son, who was given the bracelet Thursday.
