LAS VEGAS (AP) - A trio of environmental groups is launching nearly $2 million in English and Spanish ads against Republican Senate candidate Rep. Joe Heck.
The ads start running Tuesday. They’re backed by the League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund, the Environmental Defense Fund Action group and the Sierra Club.
The English ads focus on donations that Heck has received from the conservative Koch brothers and also say he’s voted repeatedly to limit solar in Nevada. The narrator says “it’s personal” for Nevada families and Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto will vote differently.
The Spanish ads liken Heck’s environmental stances to those of Donald Trump.
Heck’s campaign has said he believes in harnessing both fossil fuel and solar energy resources in the U.S.
Environmental groups have been active in the competitive Nevada Senate race.
