SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) - Authorities say speed and alcohol appear to have contributed to a single-vehicle crash in Cornville over the weekend that left a Madison man dead.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Stanley Johnson struck a guard rail Sunday night, lost control of his pickup truck and left the road near a three-way intersection.

Authorities say the truck tumbled into a ditch, traveled about 75 feet and rolled several times before coming to a rest.

Johnson was thrown from the truck. He was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation remains ongoing.
