TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - Puget Sound Energy argues federal agency rules don’t allow it to release some documents, but the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission says it’s not in charge.
The News Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2d2YfBw ) that Puget Sound Energy officials say they cannot release liquefied natural gas safety studies based on Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rules for other LNG plants.
The Commission, which does not oversee the Tacoma project, says the company is free to release any materials it wants.
The documents in question, obtained independently by The News Tribune, contemplate the level of danger should a spill or accident occur at the proposed pipeline. A PSE contractor compiled the studies and determined that there would be no foreseeable ill effects beyond the property line.
