WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - State officials say 21,000 gallons of saltwater that spilled at a disposal well in Williams County was contained and recovered on site.

Zavanna LLC notified North Dakota’s Oil and Gas Division of the spill on Sunday at a site about 7 miles east of Williston. Five-hundred barrels were released and recovered. A barrel contains 42 gallons.

A broken well head was cited as the cause. A state inspector visited the site.
