LOUISA, Va. (AP) - Two people have been killed in a house fire in Louisa County.

Multiple news outlets report that Louisa Fire/EMS Chief Keith Greene says four people were inside the home when the flames erupted early Sunday morning.

Officials say a mother and her 2-year-old child managed to escape from the burning home. A man and a woman did not get out. Authorities have not released their identities.

Greene says the mother suffered smoke inhalation as well as cuts from breaking a window to save her child.

Officials say one of the people who escaped was taken to the hospital.

Greene says a preliminary investigation indicates that a kerosene heater may have caused the blaze.
