BALTIMORE — Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Mike Wallace’s 95-yard touchdown on Sunday, his third touchdown of the season that tied his previous career high in yards, would wear anybody out.

Wallace experienced a bit of lightheadedness, but it wasn’t necessarily because of the distance. It was more about the celebration.

“I always use so much emotion that I get a little lightheaded,” Wallace said after the Ravens’ 21-14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. “But I always come right back for the next series and be fine, but today it was just set in on me a little bit.”

“I said to somebody ’what did he do, celebrate to hard?” Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco said. “You know he celebrates for 15 minutes after he scores a touchdown. I’m pretty sure that had something to do with it.”

That’s kind of true. But Wallace was also battling a different kind of issue: Hunger. Wallace said that he didn’t get much to eat before the game, which is a bit unusual for him personally. So when he started getting a little lightheaded after celebrating, he ate some fruit and he was all better.

“Just had to calm down, got a banana, a little water and was ready to go,” Wallace said. “I was just overly excited.”

That led Flacco to preach the importance of pregame meals, something Wallace will surely not skip out on anymore.

“Hey, that’s one of the things that people don’t understand,” Flacco said. “You have to try and make sure you eat as much as possible. These schedules — 1:00 games. You wake up, you eat breakfast and then you start preparing for the game at around 8 or 8:30, and I’m not going to eat again until 6:00. That’s definitely an issue and you have to stay on top of it.”
