JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi’s Court of Appeals will visit two universities in coming weeks to hear cases.
The court will meet Thursday at Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, where it will hear the criminal appeals of three men convicted of charges related to an April 2013 home invasion burglary in Greenville.
On Nov. 16, the court will convene at Mississippi State University in Starkville. Judges will hear a civil appeal of a man paralyzed following a 2009 helicopter crash near Eupora and a criminal appeal from a man sentenced to 10 years in prison as a habitual offender after conviction for being a felon possessing a gun.
The Jackson-based court hears occasional cases at colleges so students can learn about court proceedings and judges can answer questions about court operations.
