ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (AP) - The body of an 18-year-old man found buried at Sonoma State University in Northern California sustained multiple stab wounds.

Sonoma County sheriff’s Lt. Tim Duke said Saturday that detectives believe Kirk Kimberly was targeted by his killer or killers. He said Kimberly’s slaying was not connected with the college or its students.

Kimberly was reported missing by his father on Oct. 17. He was last seen leaving his home in Cotati on a bicycle to visit a friend.

A landscaper discovered his body Wednesday in a shallow grave next to a parking lot on the Rohnert Park campus. The body was not badly decomposed, leading authorities to suspect it was buried recently.
