CLEBURNE, Texas (AP) - A North Texas high school junior varsity player has died after injuring himself during a game.

Joshua High School sophomore Aaron Singleton died at a Fort Worth hospital Friday afternoon after the Thursday night injury during a game in Cleburne against Cleburne High School.

Witnesses said a Cleburne player apparently pulled Singleton to the ground by the facemask toward the end of the second quarter. Cleburne school district athletic director Mark Walker said the 15-year-old player was able to walk off the field and told a Joshua trainer that he had a headache, then went into a seizure shortly afterward.

Robert Gray, fiance to Singleton’s mother, said the boy developed a blood clot and swelling to his brain stem.

Singleton’s mother, Cassondra Singleton, said her son’s organs have been donated.
