KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for spraying two Flathead County sheriff’s deputies in the face with bear spray that temporarily blinded them.

The Flathead Beacon (https://bit.ly/2fE1pNH ) reports Devin Andrew Lelm was sentenced Friday for the Feb. 1 attack. Lelm, of Kalispell, pleaded guilty to felony assault on a peace officer.

The deputies encountered Lelm when they responded to a report of a suspicious man looking into the windows of an Evergreen gas station. When the deputies contacted him, Lelm sprayed them with mace intended to ward off bears. Despite being temporarily blinded, the deputies subdued and arrested Lelm.
