JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Michael K. Randolph is scheduled for open-heart surgery to repair two leaking valves.
The court says in a news release Friday that the 69-year-old from Hattiesburg will have the procedure Nov. 14 and expects to return to work in mid-January.
Randolph had triple bypass surgery in 2006, and he says he has a “very positive outlook” now.
The news release says he exercises regularly and had been riding his bicycle 12 to 34 miles a day before he recently started having trouble breathing.
Randolph has four years left in his eight-year term. The court says he is ahead of schedule on his work, so his medical leave should not delay the resolution of cases on appeal.
