LEAVENWORTH, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a volunteer firefighter in southern Indiana has been arrested following 15 arsons in the area.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced that 27-year-old Brian Stonecipher was booked Wednesday into the Crawford County Jail on multiple charges including arson and criminal mischief. Court records didn’t yet list a lawyer on record for him.

The DNR says Stonecipher has been linked to arsons including one in March on Hoosier National Forest property and two attempted fires at a vacant church near Leavenworth this week. He’s a volunteer firefighter in Leavenworth and the DNR says he started fires while using a FedEx delivery truck for his job.

Indiana Conservation Officers worked with the State Fire Marshal following the fires, including two within an hour on Wednesday.
