RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A former vice president at Dow Chemical Co. has established a $1 million endowment at his alma mater, the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Gary Veurink is a 1972 graduate of the Rapid City school. The school has renamed one of its chemical engineering laboratories in his honor.

Veurink’s endowment will support the lab and also student scholarships.
