BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota Commerce Commissioner Alan Anderson is retiring.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple appointed Anderson to the post in May 2011. Anderson says he’ll retire at the end of the year to spend more time with family.

Anderson previously was chairman of the North Dakota Petroleum Council. He also served on the management team for Tesoro Corp.
