It seems like old times. Beginning Tuesday, Donald Trump embarks on a four-day, three-state tour, hosting the kind of signature rallies that showcased his call to “make America great again” before enthusiastic audiences around the nation. He will also appear at the first official fundraisers for his campaign after fueling his efforts with his own money for many months.
After he emerged as the presumptive Republican nominee, Mr. Trump took time off the campaign trail to huddle with new advisers and rethink his long-form strategy leading up to the general election, now less than six months off. He’s back to the grueling schedule that yielded much popularity and press coverage and left him as the only person standing out of 17 previous GOP hopefuls.
On Tuesday, Mr. Trump is in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On Wednesday, it’s Anaheim, California. Thursday, Mr. Trump journeys to North Billings, Montana, and by Friday, he’s back in the Golden State for a rally in San Diego. And there are two important events of note.
There will be a small-scale private fundraiser for Mr. Trump’s campaign during his visit to New Mexico on Tuesday, the first of 40 to 50 official GOP events to raise $1 billion for his cause. Mr. Trump has already spent a reported $40 million of his own money in his quest for the White House.
Another fundraiser follows Wednesday in the home of a billionaire Los Angeles real estate investor, Thomas Barrack, complete with cocktails, dinner and the inevitable photo-op for guests with the candidate.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus will act as the official host, and though details are scarce, the Hollywood Reporter speculates that conservative movie stars such as Jon Voight could very well be in attendance.
