Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) test-fired two more ballistic missiles on Wednesday that it said were designed to be able to hit Israel, just one day after the U.S. threatened to impose sanctions over similar missile tests Tehran had carried out Tuesday.

State television aired footage of two Qadr missiles being launched from norther Iran. The IRGC said the missiles hit targets roughly1,400 (870 miles) away and the launch was a test of the missile’s range.

“The reason we designed our missiles with a range of 2,000 km is to be able to hit our enemy the Zionist regime from a safe distance,” Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh was quoted as saying by the ISNA agency, Reuters reported. The nearest point in Iran is around 1,000 km from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

In another threatening display, the test missile were also stamped with the words “Israel should be wiped from the pages of history,” in Hebrew, Iranian agencies reported.

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said the tests show Iran’s hostility against Israel has not changed since the implementation of a nuclear deal with world powers.

“To my regret there are some in the West who are misled by the honeyed words of the Iranian leadership while the other part continues to procure equipment and weaponry, to arm terrorist groups,” Mr. Yaalon told Israel Radio, according to Reuters.
