Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign on Thursday night called Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump “terrifying.”

In a fundraising pitch to supporters, Clinton campaign deputy communications director Christina Reynolds made clear that Mrs. Clinton is, in essence, moving on from the Democratic primary fight and is training all of her fire on Mr. Trump.

“I think Donald Trump is terrifying, and I absolutely hate what he stands for,” Ms. Reynolds said in the email. “I hate how he insults women, people of color, and entire countries when it suits him. I hate his total lack of understanding of complex issues that impact Americans. I hate that he said he ’didn’t know enough’ about the KKK to disavow an endorsement from its former leader. WHAT DOES HE NEED TO KNOW? IT’S THE KKK!”

Ms. Reynolds was referring to Sunday’s CNN interview in which Mr. Trump wouldn’t explicitly disavow an endorsement from former KKK leader David Duke. Mr. Trump did, however, disavow that endorsement on several occasions in recent days and blamed Sunday’s flap on a faulty earpiece and an unclear question.

Still, the Clinton campaign already believes Mr. Trump and his controversial stances can be effective fundraising tools.

“But here’s what I hate most: He could be our next president,” Ms. Reynolds said before asking supporters to donate $1 to stop Mr. Trump.
