An Easter egg hunt in Washington state Saturday was interrupted by a screaming man who authorities said led them to a massive unlicensed marijuana operation.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office arrested three men from Vancouver, Washington, after the egg hunt in the neighboring town of Salmon Creek was sidelined by a man “screaming that his roommates were going to shoot him,” authorities said in a Facebook post.
About 20 children had been participating in the egg hunt when the disturbance occurred, a local NBC News affiliate reported.
Police soon determined that the disturbance was related to a large-scale pot business operating out of a neighborhood home, where they found over 45 pounds of marijuana worth roughly $200,000 during a subsequent search.
Police also seized more than $108,000 from the home believed to have been made from illegal drug sales.
Charles J. Yorkovich, 24, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, the sheriff’s office said. Two others — Joseph E. Sullivan, 24, and Jordan M. Long, 27 — were booked for outstanding felony drug warrants in Missouri.
Authorities said the Salmon Creek house was the headquarters of an unlicensed and large-scale marijuana operation that may have been linked to international drug trafficking.
“It smelled like marijuana,” neighbor Breein Scarlett told CBS News’s local affiliate. “Overpowering smells.”
