The Justice Department is reportedly set to announce “wanted” notices for a group of Iran-based computer hackers whom the U.S. suspects in cyberattacks on sensitive American facilities.

The announcement could come as early as Thursday, CNN reported.

U.S. officials believe the intrusions, which targeted a small New York dam and several U.S. banks, had Iranian government connivance, CNN reported.

The charges would mark only the third time the U.S. has publicly charged foreign hackers in a “name-and-shame” strategy when the hackers themselves are out of American reach. According to the CNN, the first two such cases were intrusions on U.S. commercial companies by the Chinese and North Korean governments.
