The State Department issued a travel alert Tuesday night, advising Americans of the “risks of travel to and throughout Europe” for the next 90 days.

In its statement, the department said terrorist groups “continue to plan” further attacks in the wake of Tuesday’s bombings of the Brussels airport and subway that killed more than 30 people.

State said Americans should be particularly vigilant when “in public places” especially “during religious holidays and at large festivals or events.”

The State Department warned that terrorists are known to be targeting “sporting events, tourist sites, restaurants, and transportation.”

This week is Holy Week, culminating in Easter Sunday, for Europe’s Catholic and Protestant countries.
