Gulcherkhra Bobokulova, nanny who decapitated child in Russia, didn’t act alone: Prosecutors

A nanny who is accused of decapitating a toddler in her care in Moscow may not have acted alone, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Prosecutors told a court they believed other individuals “incited” Gulcherkhra Bobokulova to kill a 4-year-old girl and that those individuals are still at large, The Associated Press reported. 

The 38-year-old woman, who was spotted brandishing the child’s head outside a Moscow subway station on Monday, said that “Allah ordered” her to carry out the grisly act, according to the BBC.

Ms. Gulcherkhra, a Muslim citizen of Uzbekistan, is expected to be charged with murder later this week.

Investigators have said they suspect the woman might be mentally unstable.

CCTV footage showed the nanny walking in front of the subway station, carrying the child’s head and shouting “I am your death,” “I’m a terrorist,” and “Allahu Akbar.”

Russian media reported that she pulled the child’s head out of a bag and threatened to blow herself up after a police officer asked to see her identification. 

Investigators said they believe the nanny waited for the girl’s parents to leave the home before killing her, setting the home on fire and fleeing the scene.
