The Washington, D.C., campaign headquarters for Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida was evacuated Tuesday after an unidentified white substance was found.
The afternoon disturbance quickly subsided though, as the white substance was found not to be hazardous.
Rubio staffers were able to re-enter the building on the 200 block of E Street Southwest before 6 p.m. after having been evacuated to its roof.
HazMat crews from the D.C. Fire Department responded, as well as FBI units.
“Glad campaign staff in DC is all safe! Thanks to DC emergency personnel,” Mr. Rubio tweeted on his official account.
White powder was also sent last week to a building in Houston that contained the headquarters of Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign. That substance also proved harmless.
