In the 1970s, Lynda Carter played the title character in the “Wonder Woman” TV series. Forty years later, the actress will trade in the invisible jet for Air Force One.
Deadline Hollywood reported Tuesday afternoon that Ms. Carter has been cast as the president of the United States in season two of “Supergirl,” which is moving from CBS to the CW network.
USA Today on Wednesday said Ms. Carter will be in “multiple episodes,” starting with the third episode of the season.
Ms. Carter’s debut on the series should come a mere two weeks before an election in which voters may elect Hillary Clinton as the first female president of the United States.
For her part, Ms. Carter, an outspoken liberal, is on the record saying she supports Mrs. Clinton “all the way, all the time.”
“It is that we really do need a voice that has the kind of experience that she has. We can’t start from zero — I think we need to hit the ground running,” Ms. Carter told The Hill in January.
