Lou Holtz, legendary former Notre Dame football coach and enthusiastic Donald Trump backer, was photographed Monday at the Republican National Convention, carrying what appeared to be a bottle of Canadian whisky, USA Today’s FTW sports blog reported Tuesday morning, citing a tweet by a reporter from ABC News.

According to a company website, Crown Royal is distilled, blended and aged in Gimli, a town in the Canadian province of Manitoba.

Mr. Holtz endorsed Mr. Trump in May.

A first-class college football coach, Mr. Holtz commanded a 249-132-7 career record and a 12-8-2 record in bowl games. In 1988, he led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to an 11-0 undefeated regular season, capped off by a national championship victory in the Fiesta Bowl over the West Virginia Mountaineers.
