The ACC released its football schedules on Tuesday, with Virginia and Virginia Tech each set to begin their seasons under new coaches on Sept. 3.

Bronco Mendenhall will begin his first season as Virginia’s coach on Sept. 3, when the Cavaliers open their season against Richmond at Scott Stadium. After hosting the Spiders, who reached the semifinals of the Championship Subdivision tournament last month, the Cavaliers will travel to Oregon on Sept. 10, visit UConn on Sept. 17 and host Central Michigan on Sept. 24.

Virginia will open its conference schedule at Duke on Oct. 1 and host Pittsburgh on Oct. 15, North Carolina on Oct. 22 and Louisville on Oct. 29. After traveling to Wake Forest on Nov. 5, the Cavaliers will play their final home game of the season against Miami on Nov. 12, then will play at Georgia Tech on Nov. 19 and at Virginia Tech on Nov. 26.



Justin Fuente will make his debut at Lane Stadium against Liberty before Virginia Tech meets Tennessee at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sept. 10. The Hokies will open the ACC portion of their schedule by hosting Boston College on Sept. 17, then will host East Carolina on Sept. 24 before a road conference opener at North Carolina on Oct. 8.

That game will kick off a stretch of four road games in five weeks. After traveling to Syracuse on Oct. 15, Virginia Tech will host Miami on Oct. 20 before visiting Pittsburgh on Oct. 27 and Duke on Nov. 5. The regular season will end with a home game against Georgia Tech on Nov. 12, a game at Notre Dame on Nov. 19 and the meeting with Virginia at home on Nov. 26.

Virginia went 4-8 last season, while Virginia Tech went 7-6 with a victory over Tulsa in the Independence Bowl.
