A Mississippi gun-store owner and his son were killed Saturday in a shootout with two customers who were upset over a $25 firearm repair fee.

Police said the customers, who were also father and son, went to McLemore gun shop near Picayune, Mississippi, to pick up a firearm that had been dropped off for repair, a local NBC affiliate reported.

The customers, Audy McCool, 52, and son Michael McCool, 29 were informed that the gun was not yet repaired, and there would be a $25 service charge, the Sun Herald newspaper reported.

The gun owner became irate and argued with the shop owner, who called her husband, Jason McLemore, 44 about the incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The situation escalated when Mr. McLemore and his son, Jacob Edward McLemore, 17, arrived and got into a shootout with the customers.

The gun-store owner and his son died from “multiple gunshot wounds,” and the two customers were transferred to a hospital with serious injuries, NBC reported.

No charges have been filed as police continue to investigate whether the McCools acted in self-defense during the shooting.
