Virginia police are investigating a potential bomb threat that prompted management to evacuate the Spotsylvania Towne Center Saturday afternoon.
Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jeff Pearce told local news station WTOP that nothing had been found at the shopping center as of 2:30 p.m., and there were no credible suspects.
Management decided to evacuate the mall out of an abundance of caution. The sheriff’s office said it was sweeping the mall with K-9 units to be sure there is no threat.
The evacuation caused significant traffic backups on Route 3 and in areas just off Interstate 95, according to WTOP.
