NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Forecasters and state forestry officials say dry conditions and gusty winds will again place much of Oklahoma at risk for wildfires this weekend.

Oklahoma Forestry Services cautioned residents across the state to reconsider setting off fireworks to celebrate the new year because even the smallest ember is capable of sparking a large blaze.

The National Weather Service said Saturday that wildfire conditions could continue throughout Oklahoma on Monday before a wave of arctic air moves into the area. The cold front could bring a chance for light snow to the area by the middle of the week.

Oklahoma City fire officials said seven wildfires broke out across Oklahoma City on Friday, including one that scorched about 10 acres and threatened several homes. No injuries were reported.
