PHOENIX (AP) - The Latest on a long pursuit involving a man in a U-Haul truck (all times local):

7:15 p.m.

Phoenix police say they will soon have more information on the shooting of a suspected armed robber who led police on an hour-long pursuit in a U-Haul truck through several Phoenix and suburban Phoenix neighborhoods on Thursday.



Police say they’ll have more details about the incident later in the night.

A man suspected of robbing a convenience store in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria led police on the long chase in a U-Haul truck that was broadcast live online and on TV.

The feed showed the man weaving in and out of heavy traffic before coming to a stop near a posh Phoenix neighborhood. The man was shown getting out of the car. He appeared to try to get into an SUV that was at the intersection but which drove away.

Police then rushed the suspect and shot him with both guns and Tasers. He is in stable condition.

6:50 p.m.

Police say a long police pursuit began in Peoria around 4 p.m. when a man robbed a convenience store on Peoria and 75th Avenues.

Witnesses reported that the robber had a gun and was seen fleeing in a small U-Haul.

Peoria police officers attempted to stop the man but he fled. Police stopped a vehicle pursuit and let a helicopter take over.

Phoenix police took over once the suspect made it into city boundaries.

Live cameras showed the U-Haul driving through heavy traffic, passing a red light and maneuvering around cars before finally coming to a stop at Tatum Boulevard and Mockingbird Lane.

Police then shot the man after he tried to get into another car. The man is in stable condition after being shot by a gun and a Taser.

The Phoenix Fire Department says a man who was driving through heavy traffic in a small U-Haul truck while evading police was shot with both a Taser and a gun.

The man is being treated at a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Police have not said how the incident started but various TV stations report that the man is suspected of robbing or trying to rob a convenience store in Peoria before fleeing.

He fled through heavy traffic for about an hour before stopping at Tatum Boulevard and Mockingbird Lane.

Live video feeds showed the man approaching a white car and then being shot by police.

The driver circled a neighborhood with large, sprawling mansions and what appeared to be a golf course for several minutes. He ran through red lights and went around cars stopped at red lights, maneuvering his way through traffic.

The incident unfolded during rush-hour traffic.
