GEORGETOWN, Mass. (AP) - Authorities who searched a Georgetown home earlier this month were looking for the remains of a boy reportedly slain in 1970, according to a search warrant.
The 13-page search warrant obtained Tuesday by The Daily News of Newburyport (https://bit.ly/2i7h3kq ) details how in 2007 a man told Georgetown police that as a 5- or 6 -year-old child he witnessed the owner of the house kill a young boy, whose body was buried in the basement.
The homeowner died in November at the age of 85.
Police had searched the home before.
The Essex district attorney’s office announced that after four days of searching by local and state police as well as FBI agents, only animal bones had been discovered.
The deceased homeowner, a longtime youth sports coach, in 2009 denied killing anyone.
