HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - The city of Huntington experienced record-setting warmth on Monday.

The National Weather Service in Charleston says temperatures in Huntington reached 74 degrees on Monday, 5 degrees warmer than the record set on Dec. 26, 1940.

The Herald-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/2idX5F0 ) reports the record-high temperature caps off about three days of warmth, which provided a comparatively white-hot Christmas as opposed to seasonal norms near the low-to-mid 40s.

The National Weather Service says Huntington experiences at least some measurable snow accumulation about three of every 10 Christmases.

Temperatures were expected to fall back into the 40s this week.
