SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Latest on a police pursuit that ended in a small central Utah town (all times local):

Authorities are identifying a man who led police on a 35-mile pursuit that ended in a central Utah town.



Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon says the suspect is 23-year-old Jonathan Cody Smith of Magna. Smith was arrested on suspicion of evading police. He also faces three other felony warrants on theft and firearm charges.

It wasn’t clear if Smith has an attorney yet. No listed phone number could be found for him.

Cannon says the pursuit began at about 9 a.m. in Saratoga Springs after Smith ran a red light in Saratoga Springs, Utah.

Cannon says Smith was throwing things out his car during the pursuit southbound on Redwood Road.

After he crashed into the fence, Smith tried to run away but was caught by deputies.

Authorities say a man wanted for theft and burglary led authorities on a 35-mile pursuit that ended when he crashed into a fence near a small central Utah town.

Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon the 23-year-old man was taken into custody near Goshen Monday morning. He says the pursuit began at about 9 a.m. in Saratoga Springs after the man ran a red light in Saratoga Springs, Utah.

Cannon says there were two warrants issued earlier this month in Salt Lake City for the suspect for theft, burglary and firearm offenses. Authorities aren’t releasing the man’s name yet.

After he crashed into the fence, he tried to run away but was caught by deputies.
