PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police in Providence say they’re investigating a stabbing and a shooting that happened over the weekend in the city.

Lt. George Smith tells WPRI-TV that officers stopped a car that was speeding around 1 a.m. Saturday and discovered that one of the three occupants had been shot in the leg. The 25-year-old man was hospitalized with an injury not considered life-threatening.

Police determined the shooting happened in a different area.



Officers were later called to a gas station for a reported stabbing. A 25-year-old man was found with several stab wounds and was hospitalized in unknown condition. He told police he was attacked by several men.

No arrests were made in either incident Saturday.
