WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - The future headquarters of the MonDak Animal Rescue shelter north of Williston has started to take shape this month, with exterior walls going up.
Ground was broken in September for the 18,000-square-foot, $5 million building that organizers said will house the largest animal rescue operation between Billings, Montana, and Fargo. The Buck Scheele Family Animal Center is expected to be finished by next fall, the Williston Herald (https://bit.ly/2hUJqTc ) reported.
“It’s now getting to where a person can see what this new shelter is going to look like,” Tom Rolfstad, the group’s president, said.
Adoption director Tamara Rooks said work on the facility’s insides can begin once the exterior is complete.
“I think it’s very exciting,” Rooks said of the first phase of construction.
She added that 20 kennels are scheduled to arrive in February.
Rooks said the community needs the new center now more than ever. The animal rescue group is currently caring for two dozen puppies.
